Hat Chandelier

The Hat Chandelier is our classic chandelier that NYC milliner Marta Baumiller pioneered in the early 1990’s. It features five gorgeous natural straw hat shades wrapped with lustrous black grosgrain ribbon. Our Hat Chandelier is the marriage of sculpture and fashion. It’s an elegantly vintage vision, a curving form combined with gorgeous natural materials.  The Hat Chandelier is simply trés chic.

Our milliner’s talents traverse many worlds of design. Marta Baumiller’s work on 7th Avenue brought her much success. Her hat designs appeared in the windows of Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys and Macy’s. So she leveraged her technique to create a unique line of home furnishings. From furniture to carpets to tabletop, straw was expanded as a material. With that, the Hat lamp line was launched. Meanwhile, a Tribeca restauranteur contracted several extra large Hat chandeliers. The business took off. Ms. Baumiller and the entire Lampa family slowly expanded. We broadened the line and moved the business east to a more rural locale. The garden grows. Furthermore Lampa flourishes too.

Lampa certainly still prides itself on designing unusual objects. Woven straw is the material we continue to specialize in. Making lighting with braided straw has caught the public’s imagination. The Hat Chandelier along with the Hat Table Lamp, and Hat Sconce have made the collection complete. The rest is our own unique design history. Finally, the Chandelier in LED still sells to a discriminating clientele worldwide. The design world has certainly taken note. In short, our Hat Chandelier is a hit!
